Location, Directions & Car Park

Getting to Dynamic Earth is easy. The full address is 112 Holyrood Road, Edinburgh, EH8 8AS.

Car:

The Dynamic Earth 24 hour car park is conveniently located underneath the building, however charges do apply.

Car Charging Points:

Dynamic Earth has its own electric car charge point for public use. Electricity is free.  Standard car park charges do apply.

Cycling and walking:

Located at the bottom of Holyrood Road, neighbouring the Scottish Parliament and the Palace of Holyrood House, Dynamic Earth is an approximate 15 minute walk from the city centre (Princes Street).

Bus:

Within Edinburgh, take the local Lothian Buses No. 35 & 6 or hop aboard any Edinburgh City sightseeing bus tour.

Air:

Dynamic Earth is 8 miles from Edinburgh Airport. trams, taxis, buses or hire cars are available from the airport. Follow the A8 into the city centre and follow signs for Dynamic Earth.

Train:

Edinburgh is on the East Cast main line, meaning there are frequent fast links from London, Newcastle, York and Leeds. There are also trains from Glasgow, linking into the West Coast train line. Example journey times include:

  • Aberdeen to Edinburgh  in around 2 hours 25 minutes
  • Glasgow to Edinburgh  in approximately 55 minutes
  • London to Edinburgh in around 4 hours 30 minutes

Trains come into Waverley Station which is in the shadow of the castle, in the heart of the city. A taxi, cab  or Uber can transport you to Dynamic Earth, or if you’re feeling energetic you can walk there in 15-20 minutes.

Edinburgh Trams:

Edinburgh Trams offer a frequent and reliable service linking the airport and the city centre. Trams run from every 7 minutes between 06.18 and 22.48 and offer a consistent journey time of just 30 minutes into the city. Trams interchange with rail services at Edinburgh Gateway, Edinburgh Park, Haymarket and St Andrew Square (for Waverley). Other stops on the tram route include Murrayfield Stadium and Princes Street.
